Phoenix Ceremonies offers a celebrant, secular or religious, to conduct a same sex ceremony, lesbian blessing, or gay, queer commitment, covenant, holy union, wedding, gay or lesbian blessing service, commitment or partnership ceremony, and for celebrations of all occasions. The established church discriminates against gay and lesbian people and this carries over to society at large. Recognising and challenging this, Phoenix Ceremonies are designed to honour your individual beliefs, tradition and wishes, regardless of your sexual orientation. Our hope is to offer a ceremony that you, your friends and family, enjoy on the day and remember for all time. Each ceremony is bespoke, uniquely chosen by you. Whilst at present gay wedding, lesbian blessing, partnership ceremony, queer commitment are sometimes denied church status they are experienced by the couple as just as valid as any straight marriage ceremony and the promises or vows made are taken just as seriously by the couple. We often feel attracted to the traditions of wearing splendid clothes, processing, speaking of our love before our loved ones, exchanging gifts and relating friends and families by our promises.
A Phoenix celebrant will contact you to plan the occasion, including music, any promises or pledges, symbols such as sharing bread and wine, the wish tree, readings, singing or verse. You receive a first design order of service for your amendments and once the ceremony is as you wish, your approval.
Fees for the ceremony vary, typically in the region of £275.

Kate Gordon in her book “ Alternative Weddings” has an example of An Order for the Celebration of the Union of Two Men, easily adaptable for the union of two women. The traditional marriage service with it’s masculine language can be reformed to reflect the feminine in a bespoke commitment ceremony
